“360 LA” Art Exhibition: Serge Clottey Creates Art Pieces Using Yellow Gallons

  Yellow gallons in Ghana are commonly used to fetch water in areas in the capital city where there are still water crisis. Is not only limited to the capital city but also other part of the cities in the country where water crisis still exist.

Serge Attukwei Clottey is a young artist who uses yellow gallons (commonly known as Kufuor gallon) as arts materials for his exhibition. He takes old yellow gallons and cut them into pieces for his art works and uses the top of the gallon as a mask.

In his latest art exhibition dubbed, “360 LA” in LA Accra, Clottey exhibits lots of art works made from yellow gallons. There was performance with his team showcasing the art and LA community culture.

Clottey wanted to use the art to develop the community by engaging them in his art works. He stated that at the moment he has fifteen studio assistant who are employed.

“360 LA” exhibition is Clottey’s first major art exhibition in the LA township and hope to exhibit every year as part of the Ga Homowo festival.

The art work he does reflects the issues in his community and the engagement of the community in his art works is crucial to Clottey because the people are his inspiration.
