
Davido, a Nigerian afro-pop musician, was crowned “Artiste of the Year” at the fifth edition of the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) held at the Accra International Conference Center on Saturday.
Ghana was hosting the awards for the first time and it turned to be a glamorous one as it witnessed some memorable performance from some African musicians.
Sensational Ghanaian singer, Kuami Eugene won the ‘Most Promising’ with his compatriot, Kidi, was adjudged the ‘Best African Contemporary Artiste’.
Popular Ghanaian song, ‘Akwabaa’ by Guilty Beatz, Mr Eazi, Patapaa and Pappy Kojo bagged two awards while ‘Mene woa’ by Manifest featuring King Promise was adjudged ‘African Hip Hop Song’ of the year.
Shatta Wale’s ‘Gringo’ grabbed the best video award with Stonebwoy also winning the best ‘Best Reggae/Ragga/Dancehall Artiste’ of the year award.
Yvonne Chaka Chaka was named ‘African Legend of the Year’ with the great “Osibisa” band also receiving an honorary award.
