Cardi B Urges Fans To Support Female MCs Who Don’t Rap About Sex

Cardi B had a few thoughts to get off her chest on Thursday (July 12) afternoon. The Bronx native took to social media to call for the support of more female MCs who are rapping about topics other than sex. The comments came in response to Jermaine Dupri, who said that hip-hop is filled with “strippers rapping” and mundane in the fact “they’re all rapping about the same things” in an interview with People.
Bardi went on to highlight Rapsody, Tierra Whack, Kamaiyah, and Chika as a few lyrical rappers that deserve more recognition in the game. “There’s a lot of female rappers who be rapping they ass off and don’t be talking about their p—y and don’t be talking about getting down on dirty and y’all don’t be supporting them. So don’t blame that shit on us, when y’all not the ones supporting them,” the 26-year-old said.
The “Bodak Yellow” rapper believes the raunchy talk is what the audience is responding to from artists at the moment. “It seems that’s what people want to hear,” she explained. “When I did ‘Be Careful,’ people we’re talking mad shit in the beginning. If that’s what people ain’t trying to hear, then alright, I’m gonna go rap about my p—y again.”
