Three persons are reported dead after a mining pit they were working in collapsed on them.
Over 20 others are said to be trapped in the pit which collapsed in the early hours of Wednesday.
The incident happened at Denkyira Breman/Brofoyedur, a community in the Upper Denkyira West District of the Central Region.
While the Dunkwa Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Ferguson Dzineku puts the figure around 25, the Regional NADMO office said it could be more than 35.
Rescue efforts are being made to bring out the survivors.
According to Chief Superintendent Dzineku due to the strict enforcement of the law on illegal mining, the miners go into the galamsey pits between 10pm and 4am to mine.
