The Management of Exclusive Events Ghana, organizers of the Miss Ghana Beauty Pageant, have said concurrent concerns, that have accompanied the most popular and longest running beauty pageant, were due to the new directions taken by organizers.
The recent resignation of Miss. Margaret Dery, the winner of 2017 pageant has raised questions over the consistent resignation of previous winners has placed the pageant in a bad limelight.
But a statement issued by the Public Affairs Department of Exclusive Events and copied to the GNA Entertainment, on Tuesday, seeks to clarify the misconceptions.
The statement said: “Beauty pageant events in Ghana have embraced the reward tradition of the three C’s: ‘Crown, Car and Cash’ and has created a strong perception and misconception that winners and runners-up should be entitled to the lifestyle of riches, luxury and glamour.
It said management of Exclusive Events Ghana after taking over from Media Whizz Kids, decided to do things differently to redirect the focus of the beauty pageant from the usual reward tradition of Crown, Car and Cash.
The statement envisaged the vision of Exclusive Events Ghana, which is targeted at improving the standard of living of majority of Ghanaian who live in deprived circumstances.
“The new direction of management under the leadership of Inna Patty was to focus on Human Empowerment, Development and Management, specifically using the beauty pageant to contribute to changing and transforming lives at the rural areas and deprived communities in Ghana as well as help to empower the vulnerable in society,’’ the statement stated.
It said, Exclusive Events Ghana also assured Ghanaians of ‘upholding professionalism and ethics in accordance with international best practices’ and are not perturbed about the frivolous allegations from the 2010, 2013, 2015 and 2017 former winners of the beauty pageant.
Meanwhile, the launch for the 2018 Miss Ghana pageant is schedule to take place at the Kempiski Hotel on Thursday, August 2, 2018.
