Seven people died Saturday afternoon in a road accident at Komenda Dominase on the Cape Coast-Takoradi road.
Eight others who sustained injuries are in critical condition at the hospital.
The Corolla was doing an overtaking in a curve at Komenda Dominase according to the eyewitnesses.
The Western Regional Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) Commander, Chief Supt. R. Appiah told Graphic Online that the accident occurred at Komenda Dominase at about 2:30pm and that three vehicles were involved.
The Toyota Corolla was heading towards Takoradi while a loaded cement haulage truck with registration number WR 2273-16 was heading towards Cape Coast.
The MTTD commander said in the attempt of the truck driver to avoid a collision with the corolla which was doing the overtaking, he veered into the lane of oncoming vehicles, and collided with a Toyota Hiace “trotro” with registration number GE 4058-12, which was traveling from Cape Coast direction.
