Chinese Woman Shot In Broad Daylight In Kumasi

In a daring armed attack, a Chinese woman has been shot in broad daylight in the Ashanti regional capital, Kumasi.

Multiple news outlets have reported the attack which happened Tuesday morning near Atinga Junction.

According to an eyewitness account on Abusua FM, based in Kumasi, the armed robbers sped off on a motorbike, making away with the victim’s bag.

The victim was rushed to a health facility for medical attention while the police have been studying the crime scene.

The attack comes just 24 hours after a similar shooting in Kumasi, only this one was fatal.

The victim, a 36-year-old man, Maxwell Awetor, was killed as he entered his friend’s house at Atonsu, a suburb in the regional capital.

He had gone to the bank to withdraw some money.

According to an eyewitness, two suspected robbers accosted the victim immediately after he entered his friend’s house.

“I was sitting in this lotto kiosk and saw some two men riding a motorbike. One got down and entered the house. Moments later, we heard a loud sound. We initially thought a gas cylinder had exploded, but nobody came out of the house.

“Not long after, I saw the man come out of the house with a pistol stuck around his waist holding a brown envelope. But before I could raise an alarm for help, he jumped onto the bike and sped off.”

“I and two others went to the house and saw the deceased in a pool of blood” the witness told reporters.

Maxwell Awetor was found with a bullet wound in his neck.

“We rushed him to the hospital, but he, unfortunately, died at the Kumasi South hospital,” the eyewitness narrated.
