Integrity Magazine Organised Health Walk

The Integrity Magazine on Saturday organised a health walk for the residents and companies in North Ridge in Accra.

The walk, in collaboration with Alisa Hotel, PrimeCare Medical Centre and Family Child and Associates, was on the theme: “Get a second Opinion.”

Over 100 people undertook the walk, which began at the Alisa Hotel through to Ako Adjei Interchange, GNAT Heights, Liberia road, Kanda Highway and back to Alisa Hotel.

Participants were then taken through an aerobic session after which a team of medical personnel from PrimeCare Medical Centre and Family Child and Associates screened and advised participants on health-related issues.

Participants were screened for blood pressure, and blood sugar among others.

In an interview with GNA, Reverend Kennedy Okosum, the Chief Editor of Integrity Magazine, said the purpose was to maintain the healthy lifestyle of their readers, patrons and partners.

“The purpose of our health walk is to have our patrons, readers and partners to maintain a healthy life style, and the screening would help to show that you are healthy or not and this also gives us opportunity to socialise,” he said.

Rev Okosun said the health walk would continue in other localities every month.

“Our understanding is that, most of the high profile individual, middle class family that live at Ridge already have their own doctors, but usually if your doctor gives you diagnosis, you need to double check from another doctor to be certain that no error has been made and that is why we chose the theme ‘get a second opinion’,” he added.

Mrs Dalene Orleans-Lindsay, Office Manager of Family Child and Associates, who advised the participants on their health, said physical exercise was important.

“We all have to learn how to release stress because stress can kill, people literally die of broken heart and we have to learn how to manage our stress as young people, so that you can manage your life stresses in the feature,” she said.
