A teacher who defiled a seven year old girl in an empty classroom of a school at Kaneshie First Light has been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment by an Accra Circuit Court.
Emmanuel Glago, 24, charged with defilement, pleaded guilty.
The court presided over by Mrs Abena Oppong Adjin-Doku convicted Glago on his own plea.
Prosecuting, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Agnes Boafo said the complainant is the victim’s father and the convict has been teaching in a school name withheld at First light in Accra.
In May 12, this year, ASP Boafo said at about 1530pm whilst the victim was waiting for her parents to pick her from school.
Prosecution said Glago called the victim but the victim declined to respond.
Glago became offended and dragged the victim into one of the empty class rooms where there was nobody and had sex with her.
After the act Glago warned the victim not tell anyone including her father. On May 15, this year the victim’s father went to the school to pick the victim but saw her making certain gestures to her mates.
Prosecution said the complainant became suspicious and confronted the victim over her gestures. The matter was then reported to the headmaster of the school.
A formal complainant was lodged with the Police and Glago was arrested.
Upon investigations the convict was charged.
