Three-day Tsadidi Street Art festival to light up Keta this weekend

This year’s Tsadidi Street Art Festival aimed at celebrating the arts, culture and tourism will officially start on Friday, November 1-3.

The festival, which means tourism in the Ewe language, will take place at Keta (Fort Prinzenstein) during the Hogbetsotso Festival.

Founded by Ghanaian visual storyteller GlennSamm, the festival is expected to showcase the rich heritage of the Volta Region on the theme, “Cultural Experiment.”

It will officially kick off with an educational talk for visual arts students at Keta and Anloga, followed by storytelling and bonfire night on Friday, November 1.

On Saturday, November 2, there will be an art procession through Keta featuring traditional attires which climaxes with art installations, graffiti and cultural performances.

The festival will end on Sunday, November 3, with a beach barbecue marked by music and traditional dishes.

Tsadidi Street Art Festival has been established as part of events to provide recreational activities during the Hogbetsotso Festival of the Anlos.

In an interview with the Graphic Showbiz, GlennSamm, who is the brain behind the Tsadidi Street Art Festival, revealed that the festival was birthed for people who came for the Hogbetsotso to enjoy an organised and well-structured show.

“Festivals bring people together and patrons attend these events for varied reasons, including witnessing the traditional rites.

“However, after the climax of the festival which is mostly a durbar, nothing much really happens and people just hang out at recreational centres.

“As always, the Tsadidi Street Art Festival provides leisure activities for merrymakers and the third edition is intended to provide a variety of entertainment with a focus on the arts”, he said.

This year’s festival is organised by MiPrime Entertainment, with Global and Suvinil Paints as sponsors.

GlennSamm won the Fashion Influencer of the Year at the Pulse Influencer Awards 2022 which is aimed at engaging the influencer communities, highlighting the most consistent and impactful creators and all of this experience will be reflected at the Tsadidi Art Festival this weekend.
