Efe Keyz Asks Artistes To Stop Faking On Social Media

IN an era where social media has been the go-to place to flaunt affluence, AfroPop singer, Efe Keyz, is cautioning female artistes to be themselves and not show off any fake life.

In the view of the singer, her colleagues were the worst culprits in exhibiting well-heeled lifestyles when the opposite was actually their reality.

“We are quick to label popular figures on social media as slay kings and queens and even call them out on their fake lives but I know female acts are the worst culprits of living fake lives on social media.

“It is easy to believe their rich lifestyles from the music videos but that is not the case. They fake their lives because they want to live up to what they show in their videos. Let us be real to ourselves and the society.

“I want to be real so I do not mind walking or taking trotro if that is what I can afford,” Efe Keyz told Graphic Showbiz recently.

Born Ellen Ayensuaa Gyapong, Efe Keyz has steadily grown in the music space since she joined commercial music in 2017.

On how she found her way into music, Efe Keyz told Graphic Showbiz that, “I wanted to be a live performer so I started following performances of live bands and I learnt a lot of lessons from them musically.

“On my way to work one day, I heard the late Mr Willi Roi advertising for a singer on Pluzz FM so I took the number and called.

“We later met and he took me to the studio to sing Beyonce’s song live on instrument. I did, he liked it and I was ready to learn so I quit my job to focus on music and he subsequently became my manager.

“He spent six months grooming me and we did a lot of work together. He pushed me beyond my limits and being someone who had lived outside Ghana and knew what it took to be great, I gave my all.

“All thanks to him, I am now confident in what I do and I train to sing live beyond four hours daily just to be able to perform for longer periods,” she revealed.

Efe Keyz has songs such as Juju and Casanova and the singer, who is set to release two new songs before the year ends, has graced platforms such as the 2018 Reign Concert, 2018 Ashaiman To The World Concert, Miss Galaxy Ghana 2018, GOWA 2018, 2019 Fashion Ghana Awards, VGMA Nominees Jam, Vodafone Xperience Show, Accra Fashion Week in 2018 and 2019 among others.

She won the Most Popular Artiste at the Emerging Music Awards 2019.
